In community building activities, some activities run the potential to marginalize (or further marginalize) community members. This collection of activities aims to assist staff, trainers, and facilitators in using icebreakers and team builders to create the conditions to actively include the intersectional experiences and identities of all team members in a group. Thoughtful, responsible facilitation is required.
Teams can use some of these team building activities and icebreakers to build important cross-cultural dialogue muscles and understanding between traditionally marginalized groups and team members of historically dominant/oppressive groups before and during the exploration of root causes. The activities can be used throughout improvement strategies.
