This booklet is a tool that helps users notice their behaviors and the behaviors of others and outcomes of systemic oppression. Specifically, reflection exercises in the booklet has users practice noticing bias both internally and systemically along a particular identifier (e.g. race, gender, ability, religion, etc.), notice/where when it happens and how it makes the user feel. It also has users reflect on and locate opportunities to design for equity.
Teams and their school teams can use this exercise to continuously check their own biases and commitment to having equity at the center of their work. This tool can be used in conjunction with root cause analysis processes to check the validity of the conclusions reached.
