This tool offers districts, schools, and teachers a way to develop a more concrete understanding of what it means to practice equity, and reflect on whether current school policies, programs, procedures and practices are equitable. This tool is also meant to highlight many systemic barriers to equity that might exist. School and system leaders; teachers; and other school community stakeholders must work collaboratively to accurately evaluate the extent to which their schools and/or classrooms are meeting the Criteria for an Equitable School and Classroom across different levels of operation.
Teams can use this tool to assess potential structural and ideological inequities present in the various levels of their improvement work including within networks, districts, schools, and classrooms.
