This framework presents research-based best practices and lessons learned on leadership vision and commitment, change management structures, intentional adult learning experiences, and evidence-based and student-focused decision-making from Bank Street leadership experiences at the New York City Department of Education. This framework is developed from the belief that when these elements of a school system’s approach work in tandem, they effectively create conditions that support and empower teachers and school leaders to coherently improve instructional practices within and across schools — for all students. Teams can utilize this framework as an overview to change management structures including defining and engaging stakeholders. More specifically, teams can use this framework to support the engagement and integration of community voices, thoughts, and experiences throughout planning and implementation efforts.
